Professors of Literacy and Teacher Education (PLTE) is an engaging and supportive special interest group of the International Literacy Association (ILA). I am very proud to have been elected to serve as chair. Membership in this welcoming group has many benefits, including a supportive network that is rich with opportunities, annual sessions at ILA's convention that allow for the sharing of research, and publication outlets for dissemination of scholarly work.
In addition to the many benefits of being a member of PLTE, there are also significant opportunities for you to volunteer and be involved. We are always looking for members to serve on committees, assist with reviewing proposals, and help out during our annual sessions. Through volunteering, you begin to create new professional connections and foster collaboration.
If you are a long-time member, thank you! If you are new to the PLTE family, then I extend a heartfelt welcome!
All the best, Estanislado S. Barrera IV, Ph.D. PLTE Chair
